If Arenanet wants players to buy lots of keys, than why don't they put much more chests in the maps??
You just answered your own question -- to take gold out of circulation while adding as little as possible back into the economy, thus creating a gold sinkhole...

The idea is to get you to buy them, not to use them...

Best places for chest runs = FoW and RoF missions. I've spent probably 150k on keys chest running but have found numerous perfect items and near perfect items. For example last night running the RoF last mission I got a 14^50 req 9 sephis axe...that alone will pay for keys for a ton of other runs which will most likely yield some more very solid items.

Words of advice...chest running is still a gamble and those who think they will make a quick buck spending 9 of their total 10 plat in storage on 2 obsidian keys are most likely going to be disappointed. Have fun!
